There is nothing like an evening walk to siphon off the weight of the day. Come with John Rosenbaum sharing his awareness of science and nature. He makes it easy to absorb and draw on the magnitude of our surroundings and be reminded of our place in nature.
Days End
by John J. Rosenbaum 10-14-2015
Love to step outside at night,
Listening for the slightest sounds,
Insect, bird or distant stir
As some night creature makes its rounds.
A splash comes off from nearby pond,
I differentiate it bass
From frog who plunged in just before;
I muse life cycles as they pass.
There always is a plentitude,
A million pollen grains to one
That makes the new to carry on,
Such beauty how it's always done.
In the individual lies
What came before and though it dies,
It passed the spark of life through ties
For generations yet to rise.
The stars spew light from far away,
Burn to dust, we're dust, their fate
Condensed and linked in patterns deep,
Vibrational patterns replicate.
Refreshed, renewed, I go back in,
There's noise of TVs emptiness,
Here and there catch glimpse of life,
Soon it's off, I go to rest.
